This Privacy Policy explains how Permitify LLC ("Permitify", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at permitify.ai, our web app at app.permitify.ai, the Permitify connector for Claude, and the Permitify plugin for ChatGPT (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, firm or organization name, and sign-in details.
- Project information: property addresses, descriptions of the work, answers to project questions, documents and drawings you upload, tasks, and messages within your workspace.
- Roadmap copy requests: if you ask for a copy of a permit roadmap from ChatGPT or Claude, your email address, whether you are a homeowner, architect, or contractor, and the address and roadmap the request is about.
- Communications: what you send when you contact us, such as support requests or jurisdiction requests.
Information collected automatically
- Log data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps, recorded by our servers and hosting providers.
- Cookies: small files that keep you signed in and remember your settings, such as your last workspace. See section 6.
Information from other sources
- Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google.
- Public records: for addresses you give us, we look up public information such as parcel, zoning, floodplain, and street data from government sources.
- Your team: a workspace member may add your name and email address to invite you.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide the Service, including researching permit requirements and building project roadmaps;
- create and manage accounts and workspaces;
- communicate with you about your account, projects, and updates to the Service, and send you roadmaps you ask for;
- understand how the Service is used, fix problems, and improve it;
- keep the Service secure and prevent fraud and abuse; and
- comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing
To research permits and answer questions, we send the relevant project information to artificial intelligence model providers through Vercel's AI Gateway. These providers process the information to return results to us. We send only what is needed to complete the request.
If you use Permitify through Claude or ChatGPT, your conversation is handled by Anthropic or OpenAI under their own terms and privacy policies. We receive only the information the assistant sends to Permitify, such as the property address and project details, and anything you type into a Permitify card, such as your email address.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only:
- With your workspace: members of a workspace can see the projects and documents in it.
- With service providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit how they use the information. These include Vercel (hosting and AI Gateway), Supabase (database, sign-in, and file storage), AI model providers, and, once billing launches, a payment processor.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Permitify, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer: as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
5. Retention
We keep account and project information for as long as your account is active. Permit research run without an account, including the address and project details, is deleted after 7 days unless you save it to a project. Roadmap copy requests are kept until you ask us to delete them. If a trial or plan ends, your projects remain available to view and export until you ask us to delete them. We keep some information longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes. When we no longer need information, we delete or de-identify it.
6. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the Service to work, such as keeping you signed in. Our marketing website does not use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Service may stop working.
7. Security
We protect information with measures such as encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Tell us at support.permitify@gmail.com if you believe your account or data has been compromised.
8. Your choices and rights
You can update your account information in the Service. You can also ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing support.permitify@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, or the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we collect and to opt out of certain processing. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
If your information is in a workspace managed by your employer or firm, we may refer your request to the workspace administrator.
9. Children
The Service is for professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-party links
The Service links to third-party websites, such as government permitting portals. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Service before it takes effect.
